Janet Adamowitz of Harrogate lost her cat in 2005.
Desperate, the woman began searching high and low. Her friends and even kind neighbors joined her for help.
But the 4-year-old cat was nowhere to be found.
Janet did not give up hope. A year after her disappearance, she continued to search for Janet by covering missing persons posters in her hometown.
Unfortunately, all her efforts were to no avail.
For comfort, she had to hope that maybe Boo had found a new home, but more important to her was the thought of at least being alive.
After Boo disappeared, Janet took in another cat, Ollie, three years later to fill the void in her heart.
An unfortunate event. She then took in a second cat, Tessie, in 2014.
One day she received a strange phone call about a missing cat.
Janet thought it was a mistake because both cats were in her home. She had no idea it was about Boo, the missing cat.
A veterinary official explained that after checking the microchip of the found cat, the system indicated that it was their lost cat Boo.
It was unbelievable. Surprised, the woman ran to the vet to meet her cat. It was incredible; Boo recognized her human after so many years.
Their reunion was very emotional. After a few seconds, the cat began to hug her beloved owner. They were both so happy.
Later, a woman noticed the cat walking down a street in York, 40 miles from her hometown, and thinking it was a stray dog, took it to a veterinarian in Wixtan.
Fortunately, however, it turned out to be Janet’s lost cat.
Despite being 17 years old, old Boo looked very strong and agile.
Still, where she had been for so many years is a mystery. If she was a stray cat, it’s a miracle she survived after all these years.
