When Libby, a pit bull aged 5, made her way to The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, she had the most massive mass seen on her front leg. Despite this, the staff was smitten by her lovable nature and committed themselves to her welfare.
Upon seeing Libby, the rescuers immediately noticed her endearing face and gentle eyes, but they couldn’t ignore the enormous mass on her shoulder. Their worst fears were confirmed when a medical checkup and X-ray revealed that Libby had cancer. The tumor located in the bone of her upper right leg was causing severe inflammation, making her leg swell up to the size of a volleyball and leaving her in excruciating pain, almost unable to move. The shelter documented this heartbreaking story.
To save her life, the only option was to undergo a leg amputation procedure. The kind-hearted community was touched by her story and generously contributed towards her treatment. With the help of expert medical practitioners at Blue Pearl, her right leg and a 10-pound mass were successfully removed. During her healing process, she managed to touch the heart of one of the veterinary technicians who helped care for her. Recently, the shelter shared the remarkable news that Libby has found her forever home. The veterinary technician who witnessed Libby’s loving nature decided to adopt her, despite learning about her aggressive bone cancer diagnosis and the possibility that her time on earth may be limited.
Wiggles, formerly known as Libby, has found a forever home where she will be loved and cared for by her new family. Despite the name change, Wiggles still lives up to her reputation as a joyful pup who loves spending time with her furry and human siblings. One of her favorite pastimes is curling up on the couch with a cozy blanket for a nap. According to her new mom, Wiggles’ eyes reflect an innate desire for affection and security, which made it impossible to resist giving her the love and comfort she deserves.
